Protective masks help to reduce the transmission of the virus, limiting the droplet spread of the pathogen. Unfortunately, many people cover their face with other things, such as a handkerchief or scarf, which does not always produce satisfactory hygienic results. Protective masks, especially those with special filters, protect against disease in about 98%.

Covid-19 enters the body through the respiratory system, so the face and nose should be covered, especially if the person has symptoms of infection (coughing). We look at which medical and traditional type masks are able to most effectively protect the human body from pathogens.

Protective mouth and nose masks are the primary means, along with disinfection and maintaining social distance, of reducing the spread of various pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The physical barrier of material protection has long been used in some countries (e.g. Japan), but the global COVID-19 pandemic has triggered global changes that have resulted in a greater need for hygienic personal protective equipment for the general public.

The protective mask forms a barrier that impedes the transmission and seepage of pathogens both externally and directly into the person's respiratory tract. When breathing, talking or playing sport, germs are constantly being exhaled. The body cannot cope with some harmful pathogens, deactivating their activity even in the initial phase of contact.

Viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 are resistant to disinfectant compounds that humans produce in saliva, among other things. Surgical maskThe purpose of cotton or protective masks is to reduce the risk of the virus entering the body. Protective masks, especially those composed of three layers of non-woven polypropylene, used according to the manufacturer's instructions, are effective in limiting the penetration of pathogens.

Medical masks are available on the market in a very wide range, which allows you to buy the desired model with the right filter. Their use is necessary to protect one's health. Surgical masks They do not need to be washed as they are disposable and therefore convenient to use.

It is worth stressing, however, that apart from their hygienic qualities, masks and respirators must be comfortable for the user. It is best if they do not pinch the ears and do not dig too deeply into the skin (choose those with comfortable elastics). Using masks is not necessarily pleasant, but on the other hand, it should not be a torment.

We present the categories and subcategories of protective masks that are most commonly available in shops and feature the correct safety parameters.
