In many countries around the world, it is compulsory to cover the mouth and nose in public places. Experts agree that protective masks slow down the spread of COVID-19. The data show that they are highly effective. Is masks Are they fully effective? Which mask should I choose? What parameters are worth paying attention to?

Masks also protect against the spread of other seasonal diseases. They reduce the risk of contracting flu and colds. Wearing them can effectively protect us from unwanted infections, which are most often transmitted by droplets. This is particularly important in autumn and winter. The data show that this is when we most often fall ill and pass on infections. Not only coronavirusbut each infection can be a threat to our health and life. Masks are widely available, comfortable to use and offer adequate protection. If there is such an easy way to protect yourself from getting ill, it is worth taking it.

Protective mask is to protect against droplet infection. COVID-19 It is an infection that is spread in this way. Data shows that we are most often infected by the droplet route. Coronavirus is deadly to our lives. It spreads extremely quickly. Wearing masks can effectively prevent transmission virus. Among the symptoms, sneezing is the first to appear. In contact with an infected person, we are exposed to the possibility that batteries and viruses escape from their body and enter ours. This happens among other things during sneezing. This is when bacteria and different types of germs are expelled from the sick person's body and reach a new carrier. If they manage to penetrate his immune system, he becomes ill. The use of masks stops the bacteria and does not allow them to spread with such force and over such a distance as when the sick person has no protection for the mouth and nose.

Nothing gives full protection. There are no protective masks that guarantee an effectiveness of 100 %. Protective masks available on the market, however, can guarantee an effectiveness level of more than 90 %. It all depends on the type of mask and how it is used. Protective masks must be used according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Only then will they be effective.

Protective mask FFP2 has efficacies as high as 94 %. Some studies show that their effectiveness can reach 99%. Filtering respirators are able to provide effective antiviral and antibacterial protection for up to 8 hours.

Disposable moulded masks can give similar effectiveness, but should be replaced 1.5 hours after donning. Only then will they be able to provide protection above 90 %.

This is a relatively short period of protection. These types of masks are not recommended in situations where you are in public places for longer periods of time. If you are exposed to bacteria all day, masks that protect longer are better.

It is worth remembering that a disposable mask can only be used once. The mask does not protect you if you use it more than once. Washing the mask is not allowed. After being used up, the mask should be thrown away. On the other hand, only reusable masks are suitable for multiple use. They can only be used effectively if they are washed after each use. Reusable masks cannot be used several times without being washed. Used products must be discarded.

To increase protection against the virus, hands should be disinfected regularly with a disinfectant liquid. Proper protection is important not only in public places, but wherever there are many people at the same time. Protective masks and regular hand disinfection should be used at the workplace, in restaurants, cinemas and on public transport. The most important thing is common sense. Be aware of the risks and try to avoid them by using all available protective measures. Safe distances are also important. It is important to keep the right distance. It is safe to wear goggles with a mask.

Protective masks are divided into reusable and disposable masks. Disposable protective masks are designed for single use only. They cannot be used repeatedly. These are the most common masks used by healthcare workers for everyday protection. Their purpose is to provide effective protection against the transmission of bacteria and viruses.

Masks protect both the person wearing them and other people who are in constant contact with the person wearing the mask. The mask therefore has a two-sided effect. It protects the person against bacteria and viruses from the outside and prevents transmission of viruses from the body of the person wearing it. Most infections are transmitted by droplets. This is why masks are an effective barrier against the transmission of viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms. It is not recommended to combine the mask with other forms of face protection. The mask alone is sufficient.

It is important to cover the nose and mouth carefully. Masks are designed to do this. It is important to fit the mask exactly to the size of your face. If the nose is uncovered, the mask is not the right size. Reusable masks differ from disposable masks in that they are effective even if you use them many times. Some models have a replaceable filter. Such a replaceable filter further increases the effective protection. The mask should be worn with clean hands. Put it on the correct side. Usually the packaging tells you which side of the mask is on your face. Remove the used mask and dispose of it in the waste bin. If the protective mask is reusable, it should be returned for washing. Cotton masks can be washed at very high temperatures. It is essential to wash or disinfect your hands afterwards. Protective masks must not be worn on the chin, neck or over the mouth. Use the products in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Protection against various diseases
