Stretch film is one of the most popular products for stabilising and securing goods during transport or storage. It is most often used by the transport and retail sectors. In recent years, the majority of companies have abandoned film in favour of more environmentally friendly solutions, such as packaging made from paper. It turns out, however, that today this is unnecessary, because the market has eco stretch filmwhich in the 80% is made from recycled materials. It will not only take care of the transport of your products, but also the environment. Surely future generations will praise us for our innovative ecological solution.

What is stretch film?

Stretch film is a product which, thanks to its high stretchability, is successfully used to wrap various types of objects. Thanks to it, we can protect the surface of a given item during transport. However, this is not its only application. The film is also perfect for protecting decorative elements during renovations in our homes. Its properties allow it to protect against moisture, dust and dirt. Previously, the film was most often made of plastic. Currently, the packaging market is meeting customer expectations and presenting more and more innovative solutions. One of these is eco stretch filmwhich is made from recycled materials. It stands out for its excellent resistance to cracking and tearing, and it adheres incredibly well to the object in question.

Let's start at the beginning...

Before we get into the substance of the matter, it is worth leaning into the history of the stretch film, which is not obvious. One thing is certain. strech film black is the most popular packaging material worldwide. Its origins date back to 1898. It was then that the German alchemist Hans von Pechman made a unique discovery. Namely, he obtained a new chemical compound by heating diazomethane. It was a white, deceptively wax-like substance. His colleagues Friedrich Tschimer and Pechamn Eugen Bamberger decided to subject it to further research. They discovered that the basis of this substance's composition was the -CH2- group, which they termed polymethylene.

Then, in 1933, two chemists who were employees of the large corporation Imperial Chmical Industries, Eric Fawcett and Reginald Gibson synthesised a substance called polyethylene. Two years after this date, an employee of the same company, Michel Perrin, created a process for the efficient extraction of polyethylene. It was this method that became, the basis for the industrial production of polyethylene. This material was used to produce LLDPE film.

Basic applications of stretch film

The primary use of stretch film is for packaging. This applies to both small and bulky items. Thanks to its adhesion and elasticity, it is an excellent protection for parcels transported on pallets. It not only provides stability during transport, but also protects against adverse weather conditions, such as rain and UV radiation. The film adapts perfectly to the size and shape of the item, making it an excellent material for protecting irregularly shaped items.

Stretch film is most often encountered in warehouses, production or the logistics industry. It also enjoys unflagging popularity in grocery shops or in our homes.

Custom applications for stretch film

Stretch film is not just a standard solution. Many gardeners use it to protect the garden from weeds. For some, the film is an alternative to agro-textile fabric, because by laying it on the ground with pre-prepared planting holes, we are able to avoid weeds. Furthermore, transparent film in particular can be used to make a garden tunnel, so that the planted seedlings will grow faster and will certainly bear fruit. Black stretch film is a good solution for protecting garden furniture when it is stored in our garages or cellars during the colder months. It will protect them from dust, abrasion and other damage.

An interesting application of stretch wrap, familiar to most women, is its use in cosmetics. It is ideal for hair oiling and body wrap, where the entire body is lubricated with active substances and then wrapped in foil to accelerate and improve blood circulation.

Stretch film is also often used by artists to protect the wooden floor in their studios. This allows them to avoid stubborn and often impossible to remove stains from paint or clay. Painters also use it to transport their works and to store them. A non-standard use of the foil is also for play. Children often use it to train their hand while painting on it. A cool idea is to wrap foil around a table. Its top will be protected and the children will get a very large surface for creative work. In addition to this, transparent or black stretch film is very important for children who need concentration exercises, as painting on it proves to be an excellent artistic and sensory game, helping the development of the youngest.

Advantages of stretch film

As mentioned above, stretch film is the most popular material for packaging parcels. This material is most often used to secure the product itself, as well as cardboard boxes. It is also ideal for protecting large-size parcels. Thanks to its flexibility, it allows irregularly shaped items to be tightly wrapped. Stretch film ensures that the goods will reach their destination unchanged. Guaranteed safety is essential, especially when sending books, clothes, shoes or office accessories. By using film for palletised shipments, we can be sure that none of the parcels will slip off the pallet or get lost. In addition, the material improves the stability of the goods on the pallet. The film also saves a considerable amount of cash. If you are shipping two parcels, you can successfully combine them using it and save 50% amounts. Working with foil gives extraordinary comfort and allows you to increase productivity in transport companies.
